54 MUSIC PRODUCERS COMPETITION
WINNERS ANNOUNCED
LABEL LAUNCH PARTY 06.03.09 AT 54 COMMERCIAL STREET
After 6 months of searching the planet, and endlessly scouring
through hundreds of demo’s, 54 Music have found the winners of
their once in a lifetime competition. With a double-sided brief
entailing a Light side (broken beats, nu jazz, deep house and all
things eclectic) and a Dark side (tech house, minimal and techno), 54
opened the gates wide for new, exciting and unique productions.
They had one aim, to sign the producers of tomorrow…
The winning track on the Dark side of label, and to be remixed by
one of the most exciting new acts on the scene, Audiojack, came all
the way from Siberia. Oleg Izergin aka ‘iZerg’ has been organising
parties since the age of 14, and via regular slots at clubnights in
Russia, as well as a 4 year stint in Chicago playing at various clubs,
he has honed his sound and ability in the studio.
The runner up track on the Dark side, and set to remix one of the
minimal scene’s newest and most talented acquisitions, Kanio, is a
combined effort by 3 called Sour Grapes, from Sweden. Mr Aleks
Patz, Alexander Stefanow and Tom Liljegren. Keep an eye out for
this talented trio.
The Light side of the label was conquered by David Federman, a
producer that’s drafted in some of france’s finest musicians to record
a studio project of sheer excellence. With members heading up
everything from vocals, to double bass, to the harmonica, this unique
musician won over the judges with his truly eclectic sound. Due to be
remixed by legendary DJs, producers and promoters, Inland Knights,
this is going to be a track to look out for.
Runner up and set to remix deep house mastermind, Shur-I-Kan, is
Bristol born DJ Owain K. Describing his sound as a mixture of
everything from acid house to funk, he has played gigs all over
Europe, and with his upcoming release on 54, this looks set to be his
year.
To start off proceedings and before they take the Winter Music
Conference in Miami by storm, 54 Music have one hell of a launch
night planned… With an unbelievably talented array of DJS/producers
and all the competition winners to boot, this is shaping up to be one
of the parties of the year. Put 6th March firmly in your diaries NOW!
