>It seems hard to imagine it only being one year since
we witnessed the birth of this new Brazilian sound from New York City,
but DJ True and Miller Cruz have won over the hearts of
international music lovers worldwide with their very distinct Afro-
Brazilian perspective.
DJ True, the native New Yorker, son of a Carioca, has been keeping
things very interesting for the NYC FM air-waves for nearly a decade with
his monarch “Deeper Than Disco†radio show. The show has
capsulated the history of House music with his firsthand experience
growing up in Manhattan in the early 80’s and 90’s and featured greats
such as Todd Terry, Louie Vega and Ron Trent.
Miller Cruz on the other hand, the Mineiro born percussionist / DJ
of ALMA, continues to captivate audiences with his exquisitely eclectic
mix of all things Brazilian and a New York edge of his own. Together they
have helped revitalize the New York club scene with their authenticity and
sincere love of good times and good music, since ALMA is “All for the
Love of Music & Artâ€.
To celebrate their 1st Anniversary, who would you expect this
group that introduced an entirely new Brazilian sound to NYC have join
them? None other than the man who introduced an entirely new sound, if
not an entirely new genre, to NYC’s clubland from the beginning. His
work is the cornerstone of dance music, as the entire world knows it
today. This 2 time Grammy Award nominated DJ always sends the
ALMA’s audience into a complete frenzy with his masterful
production and remixes and is the pioneer of many of the elements that
make up the “Neo-Brasilian Fusion†sound ALMA has coined.
A real living legend and native New Yorker, Mr. Louie Vega will be
playing an exclusive Brazilian set to celebrate this momentous occasion.
Members of his all-star Elements Of Life band will be on hand to
peak the interest of any music lover, so expect the bar to be raised to a
new energy level, as if it weren’t high enough.
