ROOM ONE: Robert Owens 8 hour set, Verstraten fashion live

ROOM TWO: Pepe Bradock, Jimpster, Dan Foat

Last month’s JOURNEYS was the busiest yet and with killer guest sets from Kenny Hawkes and Frank Ame, was a night to remember. This month, resident Robert Owens goes solo in the main room, with a marathon 8 hour set, through all things disco, house and electro. Upstairs, underground deepness from Pepe Bradock, Jimpster and Dan Foat.

Parisian DJ, Producer and remixer Pepe Bradock began his musical career playing with various Parisian Jazz Funk bands. Having discovered techno and house music, he released on BPM Records under the ‘Trankilou’ moniker, before he changed his name to Pepe Bradock. His musical influences range through Jazz, Hip-Hop and Dub Reggae, all of which are evident in his hypnotic production style, which is best described as spooky and lushly-textured deep house. Pepe’s biggest hits to date include ‘Burning’ and ‘Life’, both for the French label Kif. Aside from his productions, he’s DJ’d almost every major club in the world and is known for his versatile and mesmerising mixing style.

Jamie Odell aka Jimpster and Audiomontage has been producing, remixing and Djing for the last 15 years and co-running his Freerange Records label for the last 10 of those. Recently described by Ben Watt as a ‘future soul kingpin and bittersweet house don’, Jamie is regularly djing both in the UK and abroad. With an emphasis on top quality house music, but never afraid to stray from the path, he retains a freestyle approach that has seen him booked for gigs as diverse as Fabric, Plastic People, The Naked Music Beach Party at the WMC, Buzzin’ Fly at Neighbourhood and LA’s Bossanova. Jamie is also a member of highly acclaimed live outfit The Bays, whose performances on the late John Peel sessions have confirmed them as one of the most important live acts around today.

Completing the line up in Room Two, Dan Foat, who’s emerging as one of the UK’s leading up & coming house DJs. Long-time resident at Bristol’s Fruity Antics, he was the only house DJ invited onto the 2006 BBC Radio 1xtra tour, and is kept busy producing his own show for Lyme.fm, playing at their parties at Lovebox, AKA and beyond, as well as the fortnightly Tricky Disco with Nick Harris from NRK and Matt Annis from i-DJ. Expect an eclectic mix of the freshest underground house & nu disco.

Verstraten fashion live – each month at Egg, live fashion/performance art/dance – call it what you will, it features the work of Sandra Verstraten and friends. After assisting Julien Macdonald for four seasons, she now works on various freelance projects, including Journeys. For July 7th Journeys, Sandra is joined by Dave Hukom, Dutch based designer who specialises in designs consisting of printed fabrics from used clothes morphed with new fabrics to create new styles. At Journeys he’ll be displaying a showcase of womenswear entitled ‘X-WOMEN – wonderwoman clothes with women with an X-factor’.
