ALMA is the type of party you want to be at from the start,
because you don’t want to miss anything and want to make sure you get
in. The Brazilian dance party celebrated their 1st
Anniversary in style, with Louie Vega and the Elements of Life
percussionists, and a live surprise performance by Mr. V (Sole
Channel) and even Danny Krivit (718 Sessions) blessing the
decks. To view photos of the last party CLICK HERE.
Resident DJs True and Miller Cruz continue to expound on their
Neo-Brasilian Fusion sound, keeping this very international
crowd buzzing with Brazilian energy. Their ever-so-lovely hosts
Joann “Muzikbutrfly†Jimenez and Manchildblack continue to treat
all of their guests with real, down home, Brazilian hospitality (even
when they can’t let you in). It’s one of many reasons Joann was
chosen as one of the Unsung Heroes of NYC’s Nightlife by Time
Out NY magazine earlier this month. On Friday, May 13th, ALMA will be celebrating the ultimate of
unsung heroes, as they respectively honor Womanhood for Mother’s
Day. This one will truly be for the ladies with a special
performance by Obini
Ashe. Obini Ashe, the power of women, under the
direction of Lisa Maria Salb, honors the female deities and the
women of the Yoruba religion. This all-female ensemble will
present a program of pulsating and soul-possessing music and dance that
couldn’t be found anywhere else except at a party that is All for
the Love of Music & Art.Friday, May 13th, 2005 (10pm – 4am)
