    NYC’s hottest Brazilian party celebrates DJ True’s Birthday with

    another journey into all things Brazilian from pagode and samba to

    house and drum n’ bass with the return of Scott Kettner’s “Maracatu

    NY” and opening live music by the Chris & Steve, better known as

    “Martinez Brothers”.

    Maracatu NY: New York’s first and only Maracatu ensemble dedicated

    to th performance and knowledge of traditional Maracatu de Baque

    Virado and other musical styles from the Northeast of Brazil while

    fusing these elements with the New Orleans “Second Line” rhythms.

    The mission of Maracatu NY is to expose the community to this

    traditional Brazilian folk art and heighten the awareness of Brazilian

    music beyond that of Samba and Bossa Nova.

    The Martinez Brothers: On Stevie’s 3rd Birthday his grandmother

    bought him his first toy drum set. Six years later, for his 9th

    birthday, his parents decided to give him a surprise birthday gift, a

    real drum set. But the surprise was on them, when Stevie sat down

    and played them unbelievably well. Christian, his younger brother of

    3 years, followed in his older brother’s footsteps as he watched his

    brother excel to the point of becoming the timbalero & drummer of

    their local church. Watching his brother jamming with adult musicians

    only fueled Christian to strive towards a higher standard

    of musicianship as he took on congas and the keyboard. Soon they

    were being hired as a team by various bands for sit-ins and they

    have now added DJing to their wide repertoire of skills.

    Muzikbutrfly & Manchildblack invite you to come celebrate the birth of

    the man behind the party, as he and his partner Miller Cruz lay down

    the sounds for yet another fun-filled evening of “Neo-Brasilian

    Fusion” from the SOUL… ALMA.
