Manchester, arguably the North’s coolest city with a diverse, exciting
and world-class music scene, gained an incredible new acquisition in
2008. AREA 51, with it’s immense Funktion One sound system,
unique layout and décor, and a future line up list that would make
any of its rival clubs weep (Mr. C, Hot Chip, M.A.N.D.Y and Jesse
Rose to name a few) is heading into 2009 with its sights set high.
Prepare to be taken on a journey through techno, electro and every
kind of house you could imagine, and the biggest promotions and
international artists around elbowing each other off the decks. Easing
you into this monumental year is the first February weekend…
KissdaFunk
This Friday sees the formidable house music force that is KissdaFunk
hit Area 51 for a high energy night serving up the best in house and
electro, prepare for an uplifting journey through the full spectrum of
dance music today. With their magic touch the KissdaFunk guys
never fail to ram a club to its rafters, whether here or the other side
of the world, and this night will be no different…
The night also sees a guest appearance from legendary house DJ,
Michael Gray, who has released and reworked some of the biggest
tracks in recent years, including ‘The Weekend’ and ‘Borderline’. Now
dividing his time between the studio and the biggest dance floors the
world over, Michael is a firm favourite in the international house
scene. You can rest assured that only music of the highest calibre will
grace Area 51’s Funktion One sound system, and this world-class
party in Manchester’s coolest new venue certainly isn’t one to miss
out on.
Oxia
Saturday 7th sees French techno DJ/producer Oxia hit Area 51.
Making regular appearances on the Beatport chart with huge hits
such as ‘Domino’ in the last few years, this hugely successful figure in
electronic music is widely respected throughout the industry, and
there’s no doubt any tech/electro fan has danced to his productions
at one time or another.
Joining him behind the decks is clubbers favourite and Space, Ibiza
resident, Oliver Lang. With a career that sees him regular smash up
dance floors the world over and, of course, hold down a residency at
arguably the world biggest club, Space, there’s no doubting this guy
can raise the roof off a club and provide the crowd with a feast of all
things house. Area 51 are pushing forward in their mission to deliver
the biggest and best names in music to Manchester, Saturdays will
never be the same again.
With it’s tunnel shaped main room creating the perfect setting for
some deep, dark underground mayhem, huge smoking terrace, ice
cannons, projector, and endlessly cool and diverse crowds, AREA 51
is single handedly evolving the Manchester music scene into
something a whole lot more exciting. Breaking the mould and setting
the standard all others will aim for, but none will achieve, AREA 51 is
a unique venue set to reach superclub status in the coming year…
