    ———————————————————— ——–
Something marvellous happened last year. Don’t worry if you missed it, though, as the fruits of 2008’s labours are now truly ripe for picking as we roll into the summer season. But how so? Well, the paths of some of Europe’s most forward thinking promoters crossed, their experiences shared. The result was a mini-gathering over a day and night which went under the title of ‘Wildlife on One’ and played out in the hills of Benimussa†at Gala Night.
Fast forward to now and the fusion of ideals and ideas from last year has had a year to harden, and the As One team is back to strike an invigorating blow to the heart of an often bloated, stale Ibizan scene. What’s more, this is one of very few daytime events which will carry on under the sun and there’s no doubting that’s the best way to maximise enjoyment on the hedonistic Isle. In doors clubbing we can do at home, right? Packing the sonic punches across three incredibly strong arenas are a bunch of house, disco and techno experts.…
Mulletover†present†you with a Pool Party and ever popular promoter and sole resident, Geddes, to kick off the As One season. His bespoke and original venues for mulletover have brought back a real underground edge to London, so expect the same invention from one of his sets. Matt Tolfrey also plays, as he has done alongside Villalobos, Hawtin and Craig Richards in the past. Crosstown Rebels, Cocoon and Leftroom have all put out his tunes, with their minimal sounds but maximal effects always well received. Einzelkind also spin around the pool. Cuban-born and Frankfurt-based duo Arno Vˆlker and Miguel Ayala†make tight-belted house productions for the likes of Get Physical and Kindisch Records and spin their techy sounds to learned ears all over the world.
Arena 2 is ‘10 years of Faith’ who present†notorious London promoter and straight-up house fanatic, Stuart Patterson, along with Dave Jarvis who’s ‘been there, done that’ but kept an underground and low profile all the while. Expect him to mix funk, jack, jazz, deep, boogie, soul and broken beats with aplomb. Terry Farley (of Junior Boys Own infamy) is the third member of the faith team to appear tonight, while Raoul Galloway and Dom Chung complete the line up. Faith has toured London putting on some of the wised-up parties ever over the past 10 years, so join with them tonight and you won’t be sorry.
Finally, in Arena 3, The Disco Bloodbath – who have risen rapidly since starting their club night back in April 2007; their effervescent mix of disco, Italo and early house quickly attracted a following of clubbers that fancied a change from the usual London club night – present Andy Blake, Damon Martin and Dan Beaumont. You’re sure to be a part of something fresh with this lot.
As for later in the month, the 22nd†June sees a pool party to celebrate 15 years of Wiggle. Fabric residents and contributors to that club’s CD series, Wiggle – the catch-all term covering record label, clubnight, artist name and attitude – are Nathan Coles, Terry Francis. Their sound steals the swagger of techno, the cheeriness of house, and their aim is to weave journeyman sets which never stray too far from the fun. Joining them across the three arenas are Tigerskin (live) who’s on red hot production form for the likes of Liebe*Detail, and Evil Eddie Richards, as well as tribal man Pier Bucci, Guy Williams, Bones Vs DDD, Simon Morell and UK house talent Simon Baker who has released on painfully cool labels like Playhouse, Rekids and 20: 20 Vision recently.
Then, on June 29th London’s beloved secretsundaze conversely take over on a Monday with †Giles Smith, James Priestley and Agnes, whilst fellow London afterparty crew Jaded host Raymundo Rodriguez, Red Robin and Loco Dice’s new protoge Tini in arena two. Finally Let It Play†do just that with Frankie Valentine, DJ Sergio and Bekka Rawkins†all charged with tickling your house and disco fancies.
