“I really like the Army of One mix, very nice! All of it sounds good though… stepping it up with each release.” – Lance ‘land shark’ DeSardi [Coco Machete, Seasons]
“The new record is hot. I like all the mixes.” – Luke McKeehan [Nordic Trax]
“The Army of One mix is a great end-of-the-nighter. Would work at any of my nights!!” – Marky Star [Swag, Big Chief, Stupendous]
“Its great. Have been getting a good crowd response and [the remix is] my song of choice to shave my legs to” – Jay Tripwire [Casa Del Soul, Siesta, etc]
“As the title implies, this is one incredible dose of future funk. With a slappin’ beat and a superbly hooky bassline, it is most definitely a standout remix.” – Earth Deuley [Low Pressing, Hellpass, Hochokai]
BF004 – Cowboy Strut (vinyl layout)
A1: Cowboy Strut – Ethan’s ‘Army of One’ remix
B1: Cowboy Strut – Scottie B
B2: Oh You Like That – Tommy Moye & Bryan Tyson“Cowboy Strut Remix”
Ethan of 3brotherstrong, The 5 Points Gang, and 360 Degrees of Shade fame has been making quite a name for himself. A self-confessed studio mole, his productions on Stupendous Music and Worship Recordings, and his solo work as Army Of One have caught the attention of DJs and labels alike. Upcoming projects include solo efforts for Casa Del Soul, Worship and Treehouse records, and remix projects of Marky Star, and Jay Tripwire. The remix of ‘Cowboy Strut’ rests on its nuskool-electro-minded bassline and tough percussion. Smooth delays, wide sweeps, and a touch of acid grooviness puts the finishing touches on a masterful track.“Cowboy Strut”
Scottie B has been deep in house music for a decade now. After five years producing and performing with his group ‘The Shift’, with releases on Artemis, Sifted and his Blunted Funk imprint, he began focusing on solo productions. Alone, his is a beat-driven, funky tech-house sound, and his unreleased tracks have been charted by the likes of Paolo Mojo, Andrew MaCari and others. ‘Cowboy Strut’ is his first solo effort to be released. Percussion bounces and pounds as simple keys float over the top; the bassline drops into a dub-house groove and samples puncture the plane of the track.“Oh You Like That”
Tommy Moye & Bryan Tyson had their initial collaborative effort on the first Blunted Funk release with the epic tribal stomper ‘High Time’. Bryan is also known for his work as ‘Beautiful Confusion’ and ‘Subliminal Jesus’ on Hallucination Records FL. Sounding like a Kompact record on heroin, ‘Oh You Like That’ is a halftime minimal tech-house track that builds into an acid-driven banger with a dirty female vocal.
