A1: Moody Eva – 6 Minute Man
A2: The Shift – Soulville
B1: Mike DeVellis – Post Boogie
B2: Miss Bliss & Sneak-E Pete – ElectrofunkMoody Eva hails from San Francisco. With multiple residencies and gigs at the legendary Sunset Party, Ruby Skye and just about every other Cali event, Eva has certainly established herself as a DJ. Much like the sick tracks she’s put out on Big Popsicle recs, 6 Minute Man is a tight minimal house track that rests on its retro bassline. Check goodbeats.com.
The Shift is “Scottie B†Schilling [New York workhorse DJ/Producer] and Chris Tempas [bastard child of a punk rock world]. Soulville features the funky riffs of guitarist Brian Fegan, and dirty live bass over broken house beats.
Mike DeVellis is a legend in his own right; an amazing musician and budding producer, he has recorded sax for Alexi Delano and Joeski on labels such as Svek, Siesta, Big Chief, Maya and others. Post Boogie is a jammin’ breaks track with live horns, bass and piano keys that smacks of DJ Dan circa 1994.
Miss Bliss & Sneak-E Pete have been establishing themselves individually, and internationally, as DJs for the past several years. Though they’ve been moving in the house/tech-house direction recently, they’re best known as breakbeat DJs. Electrofunk (which is more funk than electro) is a dirty break with a phat slab of funkiness.
