DJ OP!, Chris Annibell + Amon on percussion
“The Official GIANT STEP SummerStage After Party”
@ The Old American Can Factory
On Saturday, July 18, Carmina Soul returns outdoors in the courtyard
@ The Old American Can Factory, for part 4 of this 7 part series. This
will be Afrokinetic’s premier outdoor event of Summer 2009 and “The
Official GIANT STEP SummerStage After Party.”
Residents DJ Chris Annibell and percussionist Amon, along with
legendary music and lifestyle marketing agency Giant Step, welcome
NZ-Japanese musician/producer Mark De Clive-Lowe to the stage.
Known around the world as a devastating live performer, De Clive-
Lowe creates in real-time, studio productions and remixes on stage
from scratch, using drum machines, keyboards and effects.
Accompanied by surprise singers and musicians, his show is nothing
less than inspirational. As well as performances at clubs, festivals
and parties worldwide, he’s recorded on over 200 releases for
Masters At Work, Verve and Impulse Records; collaborating with as
diverse a range of artists as Jody Watley, Omar, Bugz in the Attic,
Dego (4Hero), percussionist Sammy Figueroa (Miles Davis), bass
player Pino Palladino (D’Angelo/John Mayer), DJ Spinna, Leon Ware,
Dame Shirley Bassey and the list goes on. MdCL is one of the most
innovative producers and live performers you’ll find anywhere.
Rounding out the bill is Brooklyn’s own DJ OP!. Known in NYC and
around the globe as a purveyor of all things soulful, this talented DJ
and tastemaker can hang on just about any dance floor; from hip
hop, house, classics to future soul, OP! can finesse them all, adopting
musical diversity and focusing it into a beautifully cohesive vibe.
Through his work with Cornerstone Promotions, Suite903.com and
RawFusion NYC, OP! has helped shine a light on underground, global
soul and continues to push for its relevance on the world stage.
Together, they will infuse Brooklyn’s dance community with West
London Broken Beats, Latin Grooves, Global House, Philly Soul, Jazz
and African Polyrhythms; a night geared towards honoring the
cultural landscape of Gowanus, Brooklyn and to transcend the
confines of traditional clubs.
Help us celebrate the return of sun filled days and honey moon nights
at our first ever Sunset Soiree. Doors open at 9pm.
