Dubbed out disco with the two hottest live acts in town, plus Radio 1’s Tastemaker

As the second instalment of the Discolexia series, Atlantic Conveyor welcomes the 21st century’s answer to Grace Jones in the guise of Ebony Bones, who plays live alongside The Invisible, a supergroup trio recently tagged for the “hottest record in the world” by the tastemaker at Radio 1 Zane Lowe. In fact both these bands have won the plaudit of “hottest record in the world” on Mr Lowe’s show.So we felt it only right that we bring the man himself down to DJ under his post punk/disco alias New Chef.? Sweet!

Let’s look at these bands in more detail shall we? Take the outer space elements of Kelis and the ferocity of Spektrum and the slickness of Grace Jones, the DIY punkiness of x-ray specs and the party party noise of Basement Jaxx and you only start to get half way close to the sound and feel of Miss Ebony Bones. With Singles like “We Know All About You” and “Don’t Fart On My Heart” she’s been worming her way under people?s skin for sometime now and now plans to make tracks to get into your head.

The Invisible is the critically acclaimed new outfit from Dave Okumu, Tom Herbert and Leo Taylor. Signed to Matthew Herbert?s Accidental Records, Their Constant / Passion 7? was released at the start of February this year and sold out pretty much immediately. Since then Zane Lowe (running theme?) has gone on to bump their second single “Monster’s Waltz” and proclaim it- that’s right-Hottest Record In The World. These guys are so hot right now.

Atlantic Conveyor take inspiration from the holy trinity of Disco, Dub and Hip-Hop. Ever since Steven Tripp and Tubbs dropped the Fantastic Incidents EP in 2004, there has been a grass roots swell of support for these London based producers. “Nasty Things”, “We Are” and OYS? received support from DJ’s as diverse as Gilles Peterson, Groove Armada and, there?s our man again, Mr. Zane Lowe.

New Chef is Zane Lowe and you’ve read enough of this press release to know what a major influence he is in the music scene. He?s spreading more of his gospel(the discoid punk funk chapters anyway)via the decks on the night.
