FACE June/July with Pol ON, Julio Bashmore and more
After crazy parties with tons of imported sand, as well as
all nighters and plenty more underground electronic
mischief, Face roll into summer with another heavy
selection of house and techno guests to take Birmingham
by storm once again.
First up are Polish exports Pol_On , whilst Bristol bass boy
and 2011 sensation Julio Bashmore plays July 2nd, genre
spanning Polish live act and DJ duo Catz & Dogz play July
9th, Crosstown Rebel and young house master Glimpse
plays July 16th. The headliners are to be announced for the
party the week of July 23rd, and it’s a mustachio charity
event on July 30th…
June 25th – Pol_on, Scott Bleepz, Elliot Croft
Polish exports Pol_On are comprised of Kacper Bogacz and
Michal Piotrowski. Kacper is a graduate of the Academy of
Jazz Music in Katowice and a respected Jazz musician whilst
Michal is one of the key players in Warsaw’s Techno/House
club scene having had a stake in top events, festival
bookings and productions for years.
The pair began playing parties together in 2007 and quickly
discovered a shared musical vision. Over time, they
developed their sound, eventually leading to interest from
3 Channels Records. They released their first single
“Ranom” in April 2009, then came the EP for Outils Du
Connaisseur, as well as releases for Get Physical Music and
Mothership Records, with their friends Catz n’ Dogz.
Expect nothing short of a tasty refined house sound from
the pair, then.
July 2nd – Julio Bashmore, Bunny, Scott Bleepz, Eliot Croft
One of the brightest prospects to come out of the post-
dubstep scene is Claude von Stroke favourite Julio
Bashmore. With a number of wide-ranging house and bass
related EPs for a fine selection of underground labels
(including Martyn’s 3024, Futureboogie and Dirtybird) his
sound veers from bombastic beats to deeper, classic house
sounds. Spinning at all sorts of super-hot parties around
Europe, he’s a restless DJ and producer Face are proud to
have along.
July 9th – Catz ‘N Dogz (Live), Scott Bleepz, Eliot Croft
The next headline act is Polish duo Catz & Dogz. Having
re-invented themselves with a wholly contemporary sound
which takes in dubstep, house, techno, garage and more,
their recent Escape From Zoo album on Claude von
Stroke’s Mothership was a sensation: you should expect
similarly slow and deep electronic sounds from their DJ set,
too, which thousands of people in Europe and beyond have
enjoyed this year.
July 16th – Glimpse, Scott Bleepz, Elliot Croft
Under his recording name, Chris Spero has been swinging
on a pendulum between house and techno since putting out
his first release on his own Glimpse Recordings back in
2004. Crafting raw and analogue house for labels like the
peerless Crosstown Rebels, Cadenza and Buzzin Fly his
sound is ever authentic and real, whilst as a DJ he plays
everywhere across Europe and beyond. From slow building
house grooves, to darker and more clinically minimal
affairs, Glimpse’s sounds vary from production to
production, but always retain a decidedly ‘Glimpse’ core.
July 23rd – Guests TBA – http://www.faceevent.co.uk
Expect another talent from the house and techno scene to
mix hours of musical merriment in the killer venue that is
Face’s home, namely Rainbow Warehouse. Of course the
stellar residents will also be on hand.
July 30th – FACE meets Mustachio! Plus more TBA –
Charity event time! More details announced soon.
