We all know by now Filth don’t muck about: Just because
it’s the New Year, when clubs traditionally churn out the
residents and little else, that doesn’t mean Filth are leaving
you out in the cold. Instead, they’ve got what could already
be one of the party’s of the year planned on Jan 9th when
2009 breakthrough gem Riva Starr stops by to launch his
new album… January blues? Ha! Not at Filth…
In less than 12 months Riva Starr has risen to prominence
after storming releases like his ‘Thizzle’/’China Gum’ 12″
for Jesse Rose’s Frontroom Recordings. Then came the
‘Scratch ‘n’ Itch’ EP for Fatboy Slim’s imprint, Southern
Fried, before he hit the Beatport top ten with ‘La Conga EP’
for Claude Vonstroke’s Dirtybird Label. After such a solid
start in the production arena it’s no wonder Riva now has a
full album of weekend weapons all to himself, the likes of
which are likely to receive as much support as his early
work did, such is their freshness. From thumping, tribal
rhythms, to Latin vocals, flowery percussion via house
sensibilities and tech-y dance floor dynamite, Riva has
many strings to his bow and is likely to call on them all
come Jan 9th.
If that’s not enough Oliver $ is also set to play, along with
the always energetic and never predictable Filth residents
we all know and love, Eddi, Jamie and rising house talent
Will Matui, as well as King Tut & The Wookie and Lee-
Michael Kelsall.
Oliver $ has remixed house talents like Jesse Rose, Justin
Martin and Armand van Helden, has had his tracks licensed
to Get Physical compilations and has played Fabric such are
his skills. His productions have also made it on to Jesse
Rose’s Made to Play label (an imprint known releasing
tracks aimed squarely at the dance floor) and he is also
resident at the World’s Number 1 club – Panorama in
Berlin. Mr. $ has already earned himself a valuable name
among current scene leaders like Claude von Stroke,
Derrick Carter and Ricardo Villalobos for his consistent
quality and light-hearted approach, so Filth are proud to
have him.
So, burn off some of those festive calories with a damn
good dance floor workout alongside a packed club of
brightly coloured, high spirited Filth ravers.
Let’s start the year as we mean to go on: in style.
