Channel 4 is releasing a book called ‘Pump Up The Volume’, which charts the history of house music, to accompany the television series of the same name.
Written by 7 Magazine’s deputy editor Sean Bidder, ‘Pump Up The Volume’ tells the story of house music through the eyes of many of its main players, as well as looking at the effect house music has had on society, race and popular culture.
The book features interviews with, amongst others, Marshall Jefferson, Carl Cox, Mr C, Terry Farley, Shaun Ryder, Jazzy M, Mike Pickering and Daniele Davoli, and looks at how house music has fragmented into a number of sub-genres since its inception.
‘Pump Up The Volume’ is released by Channel 4 Books on October 10, priced £9.99. The TV series begins on C4 in December.
