    FILTHY HABIT DJS

+ Joey Nelson, Barnaby Blackburn, Archie Hamilton

Insomnia, heralded as one of the fastest growing clubbing brands in

the U.K, which has seen the likes of Booka Shade, Eric Prydz,

Stanton Warriors, Kissy Sell Out, Plump Djs, Hot Chip, Alex Metric

and Audio Bullys amongst many more grace its stage in the past few

months joins forces with the ever Popular Miss Conduct Collective.

Who are responsible for bringing you two years of outrageous and

hedonistic events over at 12 Acklam Road, Noting Hill to a weekly

residency at Leeds’ infamous Mint Club.

Both Bristol and Leeds have lost sleep at Insomnia parties, and the

success of events in those cities was such that now our country’s

capital will leave its bed made on Saturday June 20th.

This event brings a spread of sounds not often put on by one club

night, and a spirit not often matched in times of scenester invasion.

The venue for all this is quite simply a glimpse of the future. The

Lightbox is just that, with its low, arched ceiling punctured with a

million (don’t quote) red, blue, purple and white LEDs

The Japanese Popstars are 3 mates from Derry, Ireland, who got

together through a love of music and festivals. They produce stadium

rave-worthy, progressive-big-beat dance epics that are reminiscent

of Underworld and the likes, and even have their own brand of Nike

trainers called “JAPSTARS01”. Boasting a hoard of awards and

recently winning the ‘Best Live Act’ and ‘Best Album’ at the Irish 2009

Music Awards, and Dj Mags prestigious ‘Best Producer” in 2008, the

trio doesn’t seem to be slowing down in the wake of their debut LP

‘We are Just’ from late last year. Get your slice of their ferocious,

    edgy magnificence right now.

Four piece indie band The Mystery Jets are also on tonight and doing

a special DJ set. Their last album was produced by indie –electro

uber producer Erol Alkan, and so the link to DJing and electronica is

not as digressive as you may have thought. Expect noisy electro,

wonk and fidget from these indie darlings who’ll more than

competently support the sounds and vibe of The Japstars.

Deepgroove are a pair of electrifying techno talents and chemical

rave producers who’ve graced peerless labels like Cocoon, Klang and

Rekids. They use CDJs, two EFX 1000s and a wallet full off cutting

edge techno to rip dance floors apart, the world over. With techno

overlord Sven Vath playing their tunes, and hyper-cool Fabric

booking their live act, it’s clear the pair have talent and winning DJ

Magazine’s coveted “Best British Breakthrough DJ” award last year

    only hammers that point home.

Biased Guy have supported Laurent Garnier, Stephan Bodzin, Booka

Shade,Stimming, Annie Mac and Prydz at venues around London, as

well as hosting their own techno night ‘Overlord’. The 19 year old pair

constantly re-work and re-edit tunes in their studio as part of a quest

to play stuff know one else does and to keep you on your toes.

Which has now resulted in a residency at London’s newest supper

    club Matter.

That attitude, coupled with the Insomnia residents and madness of

the rest of the line-up, sure is a recipe for recession shunning fun.
