    Downsize is far from
    the notion up “upsizing” in this age of fast living. A sidestep into the
    dubby side of techouse with some quirky
    analogue lead lines, off/kilter blat stabs and sharp snappy beats.

    Sydney DJ Phil Smart and long time production partner in San
    Francisco
    , Jon Williams, have channelled the energies
    of their home towns for this tale of two cities.

    Phil is a veteran of the Sydney
    club scene with legendary residencies at Sabotage and Tweekin as well as
    releases on Junkbeats, Kindred Sounds, Thunk and EQ.

    Jon is an occasional DJ, occasional producer and full-time
    thoughtmaker. He is renowned as a techno legend on the west coast of America
    and has released music on Hardkiss, Exist Dance and his own Natural, Manmade
    and Organised Noise imprints.

    For the remix, Junkbeats and Future Classic label mate Jimi
    Polar
    busts out the live gear, drum kits and analogue bits to
    add to the flavour and feel of the original. Drifting vocal layers, a loose,
    punchy breakbeat feel and a light dose of acid finish off the mix.

    Nice release, I like all the tracks, mainly on the deep
    side. Good job ! Good label !

    Q-burns abstract message (Agave, NRK, Slip ‘n’ Slide)

    This is a fine release … Original has some fancy rhythms
    and sprints along nicely. The Jimi Polar remix
    is fantastic .. love the build into the acid will be playing … cheers for it.

    ++++

    Mike Callander (data
    on dub, nano minimal)

    I love Phil’s original the best! Nice and groovy, just like
    Phil, haha.

    ++++

    Tyler Stadius (Fabric, Deepen Discs)

    Cool tracks. I like the original’s sort of quirky funk. The
    remix ain’t bad either – real spacey vibe.

    ++++

    Agent 86 (Freund_Innen, Klein, Jam, Von Queer)

    Think I liked the Original Mix the most, but the JP mix was
    really cool too. Different trax, really – can’t compare ’em…

    ++++

    Scott Walker ( DROP, …)

    Jimi Polar remix – 9/10 –
    loving this!!! The acid that comes in after the breakdown is just fantastic –
    this really makes the track.
