New Jersey born and bred, Kerri began DJing at just 9 years of age and has been producing since he was 15. Inspired by the Paradise Garage sound of the early eighties and also by his father (a DJ himself, whom Kerri would accompany to gigs, eagerly watching and learning the tricks of the trade and loving every moment), Kerri Chandler is today recognised as one of house music’s most innovative, influential and distinctive producers, remixers and DJs.

Since his debut release back in 1990, Kerri has graced the decks of many of the world’s most significant nightclubs, produced and remixed many of music’s most influential artists and recorded for just about every house label that counts (Ibadan, Wave, King Street, Shelter, Strictly Rhythm). Blending his influences from the sounds of jazz, soul and disco, what makes Kerri so unique, unlike many of his peers, is his ability to consistently reinvent himself, constantly diversifying his sound, from deep dubby cuts, minimalist jazz infected grooves to full on vocal anthems, each release as timeless and personal as its forefather.

Of course, any real house music fan will know just how influential Kerri Chandler is. However, many people may not know that it was a chance meeting back in 1990 with Harlesden based Champion Records MD, Mel Medalie, at the New Music Seminar in New York City that really kick started Kerri’s career.
That day a special partnership was formed. Together they set up Kerri’s own Madhouse Records imprint, a launch pad for Kerri’s various productions.

Kerry Chandler – la bio ufficiale.

Nato e cresciuto nel New Jersey, Kerry inizio come DJ già all’età di 9 anni, e le sue prime produzioni quando era ancora solo quindicenne.
Ispirato dal sound del Paradise Garage dei primi anni ’80 e anche da suo padre
( anche lui dj di vecchia data, che Kerry sin da bambino seguiva nelle serate nei vari locali prendendo naturalmente i trucchi del mestiere…)
Kerry Chandler è oggi riconosciuto come uno dei più innovativi artisti della scena House, come dj produttore e remixer.

Sin dal suo primo disco prodotto nel 1990, Kerry potè suonare nelle migliori consolle dei più significativi clubs di tutto il mondo,
remixando e producendo molti dei successi su vinile dei primi anni ’90 di artisti già famosi;
la conseguenza è quindi naturale… le sue opere vennero ( e ancora oggi vengono ) stampate da etichette del calibro di Ibadan, Wave, King Street, Shelter e Strictly Rhythm per citarne alcune.

Quello che rende le produzioni di Kerry così uniche e riconoscibili è la presenza di suoni jazz soul e disco, con la capacità di inventare sempre nuovi ritmi e sonorità rimettendosi sempre in discussione diversificando continuamente il suo sound,
dal deep e dub, jazz minimalista, nuovi groove fino a splendide voci.

Ogni pezzo che produce diventa “fuori ogni tempo”, suonabile perfettamnete anche dopo 10 anni dalla sua prima uscita.

Certamente se sei un suo fan… sai come chi e cosa influenza le sue produzioni.
Comunque pochi invece sanno che fù un caso che lanciò verso il pubblico Kerry, il New Music Seminar in New York City del 1990 dove si incontrò con la Champion Records MD e precisamente la conoscenza di Harlesden e Mel Madalie.
Quel giorno una partnership speciale fu creata.
Insieme fandarono poi la Madhouse Records…
Che fu il vero e proprio trampolino di lancio per Kerry.
