It all started with the famous Paradise Garage nightclub, home of the late great legend Larry Levan.
Dance music luminaries such as Francois Kevorkian and Junior Vasquez credit the Paradise Garage as a major influence in their styles and even in their decisions to become DJs.
Born of this musical phenomena in 1993, was BPM King Street Sounds.
Hisa Ishioka founded the label to continue the ten year tradition of soulful-spiritual house music that the club helped give birth and lend an ear to in the ’80’s.
A musical harvest that has yielded some of the sweetest dance records ever, < ?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />King Street has established itself as one of the finest and most respected labels releasing dance music today. 

King Street is on the cusp of dance music bringing such sounds as future soul, Nu jazz,  Deep progressive house, and Afro-absract excursions to the forefront. Not to mention that, to date, it remains one of the few consistently strong independent labels in today’s market.
We have been approached by major and independent labels on a daily basis for the licensing and distribution of our releases.
Our success is a combination of many factors with a focus on working with some of the hottest dance producers in addition to aggressively seeking out new talent. This combination has helped us build a solid following for our labels and releases.

Our catalogue of releases reads like a “who’s who” in contemporary dance music: Masters At Work, Roger S., David Morales,  Tony Humphries, DJ Pierre, Kerri Chandler, 95 North, Mood II Swing, Satoshi Tomiie, Lil’ Louis, Urban Soul, Phillip Damien aka Michael Moog, Danny Tenaglia, Peter Rauhoffer aka Club 69, Frankie Feliciano, Cevin Fisher, Ralphie Rosario, Joe Claussell, Mateo & Matos, Ron Trent, Harry “Choo – Choo” Romero, Johnny Dangerous, Maurice Joshua, Mike Dunn, Christian Scott and Jask, Junior Vasquez, Lenny Fontana, Matthias Heilbronn, and Jesse Saunders adding their names to the roster.  As the UK magazine the Face put it: “Its repertoire of house producers says it all: the King Street label is the darling of the nu soul set and proof that the US still does it best.”

After having had numerous label profiles in such quality mags as I:DJ (UK), XLR8R (US), Remix (Japan), as well as having been hailed as “Import Label of the Year” by Echoes Magazine (UK), it’s no wonder that King Streethas stood the test of time as a long-running, credible, underground quality, proper New York house music label.

Celebrating our Tenth Year Anniversary in 2003, our reputation has grown even larger and as a consequence, so has our ambitions.
Last year alone saw the release of three new compilations.
The Abstract Afro Lounge IV, Abstract Latin Lounge II, Tokyo Calling, as well as four more volumes of the critically acclaimed Mix the Vibe series mixed by  Body & SOUL legend Danny Krivit, DJ Spinna, Frankie Feliciano, and Li’l Louis. 
This year we’ll have Cevin Fisher, and then David Morales doing the 10 Year Edition. 
With other new albums forthcoming from Ananda Project, Kerri Chandler, Stephanie Cooke, and a special Blaze/LifeBeat project, 2003 looks nothing short of auspicious.

Tutto ebbe inizio con il famoso Paradise Garage, dimora del celebre leggendario Larry Levan.
Illustri personaggi come Francois Kevorkian a Junior Vasquez vennero fortemente influenzati nel loro stile musicale e nella scelta di diventare DJs appunto frequentando il Paradise Garage.

La nascita della King Street Sounds ebbe luogo nel 1993,
fondata da Hisa Ishioka che proseguì la tradizione musicale ormani decennale dello “spirito” soulful e house che si respirava a new york negli anni ’80.
Uno lungo ed appassionato studio musicale che raccolse e stampò i migliori vinili di house.music suonati all’epoca,
portano oggi la King Street Sounds ad essere una delle più raffinate label della scena house mondiale.

Oggi specializzata in vari rami della house che vanno dal Soul al Nu Jazz, dalla Deep progressive all’ Afro-abstract,
produce musica in tutto il mondo non solo con il proprio nome, ma anche per conto di altre labels sia di fame internazionale sia indipendenti.

Il successo della KSS sta nel collaborare con i più grandi produttori di musica house e dance del mondo,
sensa però disdegnare i nuovi talenti emergenti e sconosciuti che a volte portano ottime idee e collaborazioni.
Questa combinazione ha portato (e porta) un grande seguito di appassionati sia per l’etichetta sia per le singole produzioni.

Il catalogo della King è così vasto che può essere preso in considerazione come un “elenco”… un punto di riferimento…

Dopo essere stata riconosciuta ed accreditata di meriti da riviste come I:DJ (UK), XLR8R (US), Remix (Japan) e come “import Label of the year” dall’Echoes Magazine (UK),
non c’è da meravigliarsi che è diventata uno dei più solidi punti di riferimento come qualità; specialmente tra la etichette house di New York ed americane.

Celebrando nel 2003 il loro 10° anniversario con one.night eccezionali in giro per gli stati uniti, nord europa ed oriente,
la loro reputazione si è ancor di più diffusa capillarmente… come le loro ambizioni del resto.

Solo nel corso degli ultimi 12 mesi sono stati prodotti, ad esempio, pietre miliari come:
The Abstract Afro Lounge IV, Abstract Latin Lounge II, Tokyo Calling e l’acclamata serie “Mix the Vibe” miscelata e selezionata dal leggendario resident
del Body and Soul Danny Krivit oltre che Frankie Feliciano e Little Louis Vega e David Morales.

Attualmente la promozione nel mondo per celebrare l’anniversario viene eseguita da maestri come Kerry Chandler, Ananda Project, Stephanie Cooke,
con performance live eseguite nei migliori club.
