    I would look at putting out a cd. If you copywrite your

    songs you will be protected from them (record labels)

    stealing your music.

    A music label does not want to steal your music, and being

    represinted by a label will not protect you from a radio

    station ripping off your stuff. Getting your music

    copywrited will help protect you from that.

    I would buy a book that walks you through the steps of all

    aspects of putting out a cd.

    Not sure what you are talking about in your reply but if you are concerned about labels “stealing” your music or people ripping you off register as an artist with ASCAP or BMI. You can read about what they do for you on their websites. In general though they will get you your royalties from radio play ect and protect you and your copyrights. Its easy to put a cd out, actually selling it is the hard part, you can read all the books in the world and think you know all the steps but when it comes down to it working with a label already set up with distribution and a built in audience is far better than going it alone.
