MHP001 Mad Hatter Presents – Steve Mulder

This is the debut release in the Mad Hatter Presents mix series, and it

comes from someone who Carl Cox has labelled as “One of the most

exciting new DJ/producers to come out of Holland” Steve Mulder.

He’s a man who has had tracks on Cox’s Global Underground mix CD,

on labels like C2 and Nervous, and here serves up a fine mix of

records which will have you dancing from the first beat to the last.

Growing out of a steady, tribal house groove to start, the mix is

fleshed out steadily by big, rolling 4/4 drops, funky lead melodies

and colourful piano chords. The funky overtones remain throughout

and are always underpinned by bouncy beats which veer from house

to tech territory as things progress.

Sometimes deep, sometimes airy, sometimes frenetic and

sometimes more stripped back, there are enough sonic shades

employed on this mix to paint a brightly coloured picture which is

more than worthy of the attention of any underground electronic

music fan.

For a glimpse into the world of a skilled selected, able DJ and up and

coming star, you could do few better things than lock into Mad Hatter
