“Not everyone understands house music…It’s spiritual thing, a body thing, a soul thing…” Lyrics from House Music by Eddie Amador
No truer words have been spoken about a music that is played and loved worldwide. One of its lovers is Louis “Loose” Kee, who for over 30 years, has danced to this sound in historical venues ranging from David Mancuso ‘s Loft party, The Paradise Garage, Studio 54, The Shelter to Body & Soul NYC. Affectionately and appropriately referred to by the house dance community as “Da Mayor”, the Melting Pot NYC sees it fitting to make its annual spring affair a celebration of Loose’s contribution to the underground dance music scene and his half-century of “Doing It Properly” on the dance floor. A couple of Loose’s favorite DJ’s will be gracing the turntables starting with the legendary Nicky Siano (The Gallery & Studio 54) (http://www.nickysiano.com), Julian Bevan (Frank’s Lounge)(http://www.julianbevan.com) andMelting Pot NYC’s resident spinners Kamala and Kervyn Mark (http://www.themeltingpotnyc.com). This foursome musical programming promises to elevate revelers and take them on a musical journey spanning 35 years from global deep house, soul, funk, disco. After playing to packed houses, including NYC’s legendary Blue Note, and releasing his critically acclaimed EP on West End Records, electrifying performer and recording artist, Manchildblack (Indigo) (http://www.manchildblack.com), will make his debut at the the Melting Pot NYC. Known for his strong, smokey vocals, Manchildblack fuses danceable R&B with African, Brasilian and Latin rhythms. This infectious sound, called Nu Global Soul is filling dance floors worldwide and has put Manchildblack on the playlist of such eclectic DJ’s as Gilles Peterson, Danny Krivit, Rich Medina and Bobbito Garcia. Party favors for the early birds and expect eye-popping visual projections. Also Open Bar from 10pm-11pm. So come as you are and be part of the vibe! Dancers bring the baby powder to bless the floor!
