Continuing in their strong vein of form, Mad Hatter Recordings serve

up their 3th release, ‘Push’ from Conor Jay, with no fewer than five

    remixes.

The original track from Irish man Conor Jay is a subtle, deep cut for

the most clued-up dancefloor. The swollen, throbbing bottom end

drives forward and takes care of your hips, whilst a funky, micro

evolving melody and giggling percussion line occupy your mind. Jay

carves out a shadowy, sultry vibe and it’s most pleasing.

For the Tonto remix things slow down into near dub techno territory

to start, before lolloping, soothing and liquid grooves melt outwards

and consume you in a lush soup of muted rhythms and sun drenched

niceness. For his second ‘Off The Cuff’ remix the vibes are still

mellow, though get an injection of slightly spiked tech energy which

would up the tempo in any building house set with style.

The Broken remix is a much more energetic, electro tinged track with

clattering bongos and urgent synths taking it into peak time territory,

whilst the deep punching beats of the Caine N Anians remix tack you

right back to a dark, sweaty little club space. Building into scattered

rhythms and snippets of foreign vocals, the track nocks at Cadenza’s

door before flattening out into the darkest of the tracks on offer in

    this package so far.

The final interpretation of ‘Push’ comes from Kris James. His piston

pumps, shuffled up beats and track-y grooves make for a crisp, tight

jam which would sweep up any dance floor worth its salt and carry it

along for a most pleasurable ride.

This release is another winner from Mad Hatter Recordings, and one

which warrants the attention of house and techno jocks everywhere.
