Years of reporting on the best parties and telling you about
the hottest electronic talents around give Mixmag all the
knowledge they need to throw the world’s biggest dance
music festival, and on November 20th it comes to the O2
Academy, Oxford.
Featuring a bass heavy selection of DJs and producers, the
Oxford leg of the world’s biggest electronic tour is
headlined by Radio 1’s Zane Lowe – a purveyor of all
things fresh from a long list of genres. Soulful Brazillian
d&B exponent DJ Marky backs him up with some rolling
rhythms, and UK garage legend MJ Cole also features: if
you like 2stepo and house with an urban twist, he’s your
man. Billed as “Croydon’s answer to Moodyman†Hatcha is
the next guest, so expect only the deepest dubstep from
him.
Zed Bias will bring his experimental broken beats and
garage, while Oxford heroes DJ Fu & Jungle Drummer do
their unique thing behind the decks, mixing up d&b like few
others in 2009 can. Completing a mammoth line-up of
artists are Spy (expect anything from shake, freakbeat,
ska, soul, mod or garage) and the world touring bass freak
Sigma, all of whom will offer Oxford a party quite like
anything they’ve ever seen before.
Tour residents and crowd pleasing tech house duo IAM ONE
play, as do Radio 1’s eclectic masters and ‘In new music
we trust’ residents Jaymo & Andy George.
The aim tonight is to turn the O2 Academy into an all
singing all dancing mini-festival for an unforgettable night
of partying to a decidedly cool soundtrack… brought to you
by the formidable force that is Mixmag, there’s no chance
this won’t be HUGE.
