We at MUM are very excited about this next release- DJ Meri, one
half of the very cool Rulers Of The Deep has delivered a couple of
belting tracks for us under his alter ego of CYLON (NRK, Big Love).
Meri’s and ROTD credits include projects for Strictly Rhythm,
Defected, Ovum, Distance to name but a very few, so naturally we
are very pleased to have someone of his calibre on board in the form
of the SEKONTIA EP.
We asked Meri about where the the names for this EP came from and
were quite surprised and intrigued by the answer – “Sekontia, Pelican
Island and Sekvoia come from the famous Estonian comics by Olimar
Kallas, which are set in “Stonevillage”. All the names originate from
one of the editions called “Adventure in Sekontia with Emergency
Landing to Pelican Island”. Olimar Kallas (1926-2006) was a
respected Estonian comic book artist – all his characters are well
known and loved in Estonia and have an important place in the
Estonian comic book history”
The epic techy landscape of ‘Sekvoia’ is backed up with an incredible
remix from ‘Curious George & The Agent’ and ‘Pelican Island’ with it’s
infectious driving melody has a superb tribal/deep interpretation from
the seemingly omni present Mark Holmes & OD Muzique.
