    Yacoub aka Jacob Soubeiga originally from Burkina Faso was born in the Village of Kiffa(Mauritania) in 1954.

    Yacoub is a Guitarist, Singer, Music Composer and Arranger. He also wrote music for movies.

    His Musical Journey Started in 1972 with the “ Super Biton du Mali” at this time he was the youngest guitar player of the band.
    In 1983 his old friend Thomas Sankara became head of Upper Volta government and, changed name of Upper Volta to Burkina Faso.

    In 1984, President Sankara will call Yacoub and ask him to become the Artistic Director of the Coulombs of the Revolution.

    This will give Yacoub the opportunity to write music for 3 movies that will end up as African Classics “Karim & Salaby Idrissa Ouedraogo”, “Tounga by Djim Kola” and “Laada by Touré”.
    In 1987 Thomas Sankara is assassinated in the capital city of Ouagadougou, at the age of 37. This will affect Yacoub and many Africans tremendously and force him to take a break with music for couple of years.
