Rare Grooves Redefined
Happy 2006 to everyone!!!!
Every Wednesday, obscure and underplayed music (Funk, Jazz, Soul, Disco, Salsa) is unearthed for the masses to discover and enjoy. Our ongoing mission for Rarefied is to broaden on the definition of “Rare Grooves.” Suppliers of the music is DJ Tomcat (Underground Railroad/Rare Radio Show, WBAI 99.5 FM) and every last Wednesday of the month is Jeannie Hopper (Liquid Sound Lounge, WBAI 99.5 FM)
In honor of the legacy and philosophy of Martin Luther King Junior, January 18 will be designated “War and Peace” night. The music on this night will consist on a theme of war/harmony/conflict/peace along with an art exhibition on the same theme by Glenn Angel (CAC@SJB.) Though the theme may be thought provoking, the music will be plenty soulful and funky.
