Hello my HMF family……………
Wanted to share this brief moment with Larry Levan and the way he studied the records he ultimately spun into ecstasy.
We were at Vinylmania Record store (NYC which is still there
http://www.vinylmania.com) and Larry Levan had just picked up Just Another Man
by Jeanne Harris http://www.formic.de/shop/product/STU-1311.html . In
his dinning room he had this Thoren turntable which he played this
newly aquired record over and over again. When he played that record
that night at the Paradise Garage it was magic and the place went mad
of course……….the little I remember of it……
Lesson here is KNOW your records so that you can program them into your
sets to create a magical experience for all listeners and dancers to
enjoy the musical ride.Much love to all at HMF.
