In keeping with, what has become their knack for knowing what

the New York music audience is in need of, the folks at ALMA are,

again, breaking barriers and pushing frontiers with another

    gathering…

ROCK MACUMBA proposes to fuse the traditional sounds of rock

with an array of newer and less traditional, yet soulful, sounds.

This is done with the understanding that this is a music that has

impacted over a generation of listeners; has strummed chords in

a primal place of these souls; has been a vehicle for change and

    awareness…all along transcending racial barriers.

In keeping with the tradition of a MACUMBA (fusion of the

Brazilian religions of CANDOMBLE and UMBANDA), this gathering

will be a fusion of sounds that will serve to create (re-create) some

of the ecstatic journeys that can be a part of a musical experience…

At ROCK MACUMBA you can expect to hear the traditional rock

sounds of Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, (early) Black

    Sabbath,

The Who, Rolling Stones, AC/DC, etc….with the newer sounds of The

    Clash,

The Police, The Bad Brains, Nirvana, Body Count, Red Hot Chili

    Peppers, etc…

The sounds of Chico Science/Nacao Zumbi, Som Nosso, etc. mixed in

    with

fusion jazz, funk, dub and beautiful sounds of SOUL.

It is ROCK MACUMBA’s mission to move the soul and body…

    free the mind and heart.

So in the words of Led Zeppelin,

“TAKE MY HAND CHILD, COME WITH ME”

Join ROCK MACUMBA in their musical journey to a time of

    peace, love, revolution…and CHANGE.
