SARAH FOOTE
“deep & delightful†(DJ Magazine September 2002)Sarah has been nurturing her love of dance music for over 16 years. But she really fell in love with dance at Dave Haslam’s legendary Freedom nights whilst studying in Manchester. She has since embraced an 8 year strong career in the dance music industry, immersing herself in some of the finest music around, working at DMC, Stress Records, Mixmag, Mixmag Update, Seven, NME and Worldpop. Sarah now works as a DJ, promoter, dance music publicist and DJ agent for her own company Favouritizm, representing some of the finest international labels and jockey’s around, feeding her habitual state of spreading the love of quality music.
Since turning her hands to the decks, Sarah has ferried herself all over london’s clubbing community from the likes of Ignition, Bar Vinyl, Sublogic, The Elbow Rooms, Sunday Best, Dogmatique, Stompa Phunk and The Retreat to the Ministry Of Sound and Turnmills. As a DJ Sarah is very eclectic, her sets vary from upfront soulful, deep & funky house, worldly latin beats to a full on set of dance classics and you’ll always find her torn between decks and dancefloor.
“the first lady of retro†(Time Out December 2002)
Sarah is also the promoter of Favouritizm club night, launched back in 2001 where favourite dance djs are invited to rummage deep into their record boxes and pull out their most inspirational tunes… ever! Favouritizm was originally held at London’s plush Saint Bar, moving on to Herbal in 2002 and residing at Brixton’s Plan B before deciding to concentrate on a series of Favouritizm parties all over from London to Manchester. Sarah has played along side the likes of Dave Haslam, Marshall Jefferson, Robert Owens, John Julius Knight, Axwell, Grant Nelson, Shades Of Rhythm, Stuart Patterson, Tom Middleton, Mark Moore, Terry Francis, Phil Cheeseman, Digs & Whoosh, David Dunne, Guy Williams and Joey Musaphia,The Sharp Boys, Terry Farley and Ashley Beedle to name a few…
“you wont be able to resist the exhortations to move your bodyâ€
(Metro January 2002 2002)Back in summer Sarah & Favouritizm resident Ben Jam got a taste for radio when they presented a live show for the Student Broadcast Network and developed the Favouritizm concept in order to present a weekly 2 hour live show on Trustthedj.com. Favouritizm Live, much like the club night, featured big name DJ’s from Pete Heller and Chad Jackson and Marshall Jefferson and Rob Mello spinning their favourite tunes, along side interviews, competitions and hot new tunes to trust, going out to 100,000 people worldwide per month. Sarah also guests on Ministry of Sound Radio now and again, having played on Tula’s House Keeping show and is a regular on Brian Cheetham’s Movin House Show, and is currently in talks for a new show for soul 247 station.
“Swanky house to dance your little bums off to” (Time Out June 2003)
2003 has already been an exciting year for Sarah with having already played at Miami WMC, Slovenia and Manchester and more european dates in the pipeline including Croatia and Italy. She also launched a thursday monthly night at Turnmills alongside Hacienda veteran David Dunne called DJ Death Match back in June, which has since moved to the intimate settings of Medicine in Shoreditch. In addition she has a new monthly residency at Dogmatique at the Telegraph in Brixton.
