SAYTEK LIVE REMIXED • PRESS RELEASE
Saytek has gained a reputation as the most innovative and exciting
live act to emerge from the UK underground house and techno scene
in recent times. With 2 critically acclaimed & massively popular Zoo
Project live albums under his belt His fully improvised hardware
shows have seen him being booked for headline slots everywhere
from Fabric London (Room one), Sankeys Manchester, The Zoo
Project Ibiza,T Bar London, Cafe De Anvers Belgium , Circus Festival
Spain and Patent Blua secret party Berlin to name but a few.
Saytek’s Shows are 100% improvised and as a result do not exist as
finished tracks so Cubism Records have stepped in to re-edit the live
material into DJ friendly versions, doing as little as possible (normally
just providing lead in an lead outs) to retain the original raw live feel
that has a proven track record of working on the floor. As well as the
Re-edits Cubism commission remixes of Saytek’s work by some of
the freshest up and coming producers out there alongside some of
the more established underground artists.
The first EP features two huge tracks from Saytek’s repertoire, hand
picked for there summertime vibes ‘Mama Huaco’s Groove’ and
‘Dreaming of a 909 and a Brazilian’ show Saytek’s more jazzy
melodic side, with audiences and DJ’s from Ibiza To London and
Belgium requesting the tracks. “Mama Huaco’s Groove” is inspired by
the jungle with rolling Latin percussion and jazzy bass met with deep
chords stabs and echoing vocal chops that bring the track to the
breakdown. With its off kilter Amazon rhythms and filter swept space
disco sample ‘Dreaming of a 909 and a Brazilian’ does what is says
on the tin combining simple 909 patterns with Brazilian style bass and
guitar sample to devastating effect. Everywhere Saytek goes people
say ” play the one with the guitar” so it was natural to include this in
the first release.
The remixes on this first EP offer a diverse cross section of house
and techno. Starting with ‘Mama Huaco’s Groove’ we have FUSE
resident Jun Akimoto (Welt Sounds) & Ittetsu who have recently been
receiving support by the likes of Reboot and Tim Green bringing a
superb percussive tech house tool to the party. Next up Soma
Records’ Harvey McKay presents us with a peak time techno weapon!
Harvey is currently riding high with his music consistently featuring in
the sets and charts of the likes of Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer, Chris
Liebing, Dubfire, Alan Fitzpatrick and Slam among many other of the
worlds elite DJs.
First up on remix duty for ‘Dreaming of a 909 and a Brazilian’ we
have Zoo Project resident Jean Cedric. Jean delivers a superb
sundrenched version which no doubt will be regularly heard in his
sets across Europe and over the airwaves this summer on his Ibiza
Global Radio show. Finally we have one of the UK’s most exciting
DJ/Producers with Sam Ball (Off Key/I-Fi Music/Saved) delivering a
perfect groove and instant summer classic with his excellent
interpretation.
