Sick! On the Dance Floor
SEone
21.03.09
March 21st sees Sick! On The Dance Floor pull another blinder out of
the bag, kicking off their run of parties in 2009, they have the
almighty Loose Cannons and Justin Robertson headlining, Ketoloco
heading up an arena, and are launching cool new label, Super-Beat!…
deep breaths for this one then…
After kicking all other promotions sharply out of the water, Sick! On
the Dance Floor are ready to claim their crown as the biggest and
best party in London! Starting life sharing the stage with other nights
at institutions such as The Cross and Canvas, Sick! quickly made a
name for themselves amongst their devoted crowds and now
regularly head up the frankly MASSIVE London venue, SEone. With a
capacity of 3000 that never goes unfilled, Sick! consistently smash
out mind f**king events rammed to the rafters with the cities coolest
crowd, Electro’s finest DJs and plenty of random occurrences to
ensure each night goes up in a jaw dropping ball of smoke. After
having played around with the layout of the club, and seeking an
altogether more ‘rave’ like feel, the Sick! boys have pulled out all the
stops to make sure their first big party of the year leaves all revelers
weak at the knees, (and a little bit south in the head)…
With the incredible talent of the Loose Cannons, the self-proclaimed
‘peddlers of dirt disco’ behind the decks things are only going to go
one way. After remixing all the cool kids (Justice, Roisin Murphy,
even The Mighty Boosh) and playing at the biggest club nights and
festivals all over the place, the Loose Cannons have earned their
stripes as one of the hottest duos on the market. Their sets are filled
with dirty, filthy, cheeky electro delights, all served up with a hefty
side of bass and the odd melodical bum squeeze, perfect for the
sleazy though delicious atmosphere of the Sick! events; a match
made in heaven.
The night will also host the launch of Super-Beat! A new West London
electronic label launching in April, which is dedicated to futuristic
electronic dance floor beats with a heady mix of established artists
and awesome new talent, and Super-Beat! are hoiking along two of
their artists to celebrate their launch. First up is the mighty Mr Justin
Robertson – Never before have a crowd been able to dance through
one of his sets without grinning like Cheshire cats on acid. His love
for quirky, beautiful house with insane bass lines, a disco edge, and
boutique style techno has led him to be a master of both studio and
decks, producing instantly recognizable, arms in the air dance
anthems that every self respecting DJ and any fan of house could
only gush over, and could never keep still too. All hail the Robertson.
(and his awesome array of headwear!)
Also joining us from Super-Beat! And completing the line up in the
main arena is Jon Kahuna – formerly of FC KAHUNA (providers of
sometimes odd but always cool acid tinged, electro house). A long
time producer and promoter, Jon has been providing the world with
his own take on the electro excursion for years. Tonight he is
celebrating the imminent launch of his new act, Disco Weirdo’s, on
Super-Beat! Expect a quality of music only found through years of
production experience, past deck sharing with the likes of Aphex
Twin and Chemical Brothers and an endless passion for diverse and
exciting strains of house. His ever-evolving style has sent many a
dance floor slightly left, and you can expect tonight to be no
different.
Super-Beat! will be launching in April with three releases by the
aforementioned Justin Robertson and Disco Weirdo’s alongside future
star Mat Lester……. joining the Super-Beat! posse in future releases
will be Colin John (Menage-a-Trois), Bristolian electronic custodians
Deepgroove and some of Sick!s very own DJ’s – Andy & Dom…..
Heading up arena two and needing no introduction to the avid party
fans out there are Ketoloco… after starting their now international
party at a student house basement in Leeds(?!) their sheer,
unquestionable talent and faultless ability to throw bad ass, multi day
parties that regularly hosted some of the worlds top DJs, (usually in a
less than world class state…) these Northern purveyors of all things
naughty have taken the club scene by storm. Now riding high on an
untouchable wave of success, there’s no question this will be one
arena rocking violently into the early hours.
With support on the night from London DJ and Sick! regular, Mark
Storie, as well as Sick! DJ’s Andy and Dom, alongside this
disgracefully high quality line up and housed of course, at the
spiritual home of SEone, this is going to get the 2009 ball rolling quite
nicely… Better have a glass of milk before you step out for this one;
things are most definitely going to get Sick!
