    This time, we have our first Grooveland Music release for this year. A jazz laiden excursion into House Music brought to you by SoulBasics.

    SoulBasics, arrived on the house music production scene early 2006 with releases ‘City-Lite’ on Soulfunk Digital and ‘The Phusion EP’ on Soultonic Records earning them respect from some of the scene’s biggest names and guest mixes on numerous radio shows across Europe.

    The collective of DJs Steve Fox and Nick D with production engineer/session musician Matt Bell hale from Darlington representing the UK’s northern deep house and nu-jazz scene. The SoulBasics sound incorporates jazz, funk, disco, latin, tech, deep and soulful house influences with inspiration from artists such as Herbie Hancock, Roy Ayres, Kerri Chandler, Osunlade amongst many others.

    With Cisco Bay, a jazzy little number they cooked up while working in their studios, coming in three different takes – a deep house mix, a loungy rub, and a broken beat affair – SoulBasics make it’s debut on Grooveland Music.

    I just loved those keys- took me back to the roots of my love for music. You just know there is magic ahead and the horn just pulls you from the off a real live feel to the beats but that cheeky horn riff is wicked!

    I had the opportunity of receiving a copy of the lounge mix last year & thought THAT! was dope. The new mixes are off the hook! Just an excellent musical trip & quality arrangements. Being a fan of jazz & funk, l am definitely feelin the whole soul & jazz flava, every mix has its own unique character which is great. if I had to choose a fav mix (which is difficult because all of them are phat!) It would be SBs Broken Mix! Just love the way this one flows!
