Full Intention’s Jon Pearn & radio jock Steve Facey team up with awesome vocal connoisseur Kenny Thomas to revisit David Joseph’s 80’s soul smash ‘You Can’t Hide Your Love’. Originally a huge hit back in 1983 David’s soulful sounds had the heads bumping on all corners of the globe, the Souledz take many of the eighties references and lovingly craft them into a new slice of dancefloor Heaven guaranteed to get the likes of Southport Weekender veterans bopping their little pants off!
Kenny Thomas is widely regarded as having one of the most distinctive soul voices in the UK and boy does he know how to work those vocal chords! His debut album, entitled ‘Voices’, in 1991 on the acclaimed dance label Cooltempo featured the huge hits ‘Outstanding’, ‘Best Of You’ and ‘Thinking About Your Love’ which went to no.3 in the uk charts. In addition to this Kenny has worked with a staggering amount artists. Fast forward to present day and Kenny has been busy in the studio again and in addition to the Souledz project he has recorded new
material for Stonebridge Productions, which will be featured on Stonebridge’s album for Hed Kandi due for release in early 2004. He has also recorded another single Crazy World with Full Intention released earlier this year as a limited edition on suSU which is already being hailed as the soul anthem of 2003.
Classically trained Jon, first started experimenting with house music in 1988 when he teamed up with Mike Gray working together as Greed. They later formed other guises including Hustlers Convention and Full Intention that would pave the way of a 15 year strong career of writing,
remixing and producing quality house sounds. Along with Mike, Jon has remixed and produced records for the likes of Mariah Carey, Roger Sanchez, Jennifer Lopez and Junior Jack to name but a few, and have had releases on Stress, Essence, Peppermint Jam Defected and their own label Dtension.
Steve has been broadcasting soulful sounds to the airwaves since 1993 having hosted shows to the London masses on Kiss and Choice FM, with his first break being the producer of Dave Pearce’s Show for Radio London back in 1988. From a very young age Steve has been pushing soul grooves with his first club residency at the age of 19 warming up for Paul Oakenfold at Zigis in Streatham and then moved on to host the legendary Faces 80s club night and to this day is still pushing his love of smooth Eighties cuts.
Look out for forthcoming mixes from Axwell and KCC along with a full on soul mix.
‘You Can’t Hide Your Love’ will be released on October 20th on suSU.
