Mistakes Music – Sebastian Leger and Guy Gerber

Sankeys is representing international baby. This week two stars from further afield are being selected to do the selecting, adding a distinctly Gallic flair in the shape of the headliner Sebastian Leger and a Yankee counterpart with deep techno don Guy Gerber bringing the smoothness. Delivering global pedigree with aplomb? That remains the Sankeys clubbing mandate and one wondrously reinforced by this party. So to Leger. Growing up in a musical family meant that his fate was always going to be shrouded in a career, but it’s fair to say that his session musician parents wouldn’t equate the classical piano and drum training they gave their son to a love for electronic music. This is of course what happened though, Sebastian’s immersion in record shop culture and the razor grooves of French luminaries Bob Sinclair and Daft Punk instilling a deep love for the genre, leading to his first productions as Deaf’N’Dumb Crew.

These would later lead to his own productions, notably the huge ‘Seaweed’ and ‘Bad Clock’ tracks, where he has showcased an intensity for main room house and techno, drawing comparisons to Eric Prydz and Laurent Garnier. Flitting between the warmth of melodious breakdowns and the snarling energy of acid techno, Leger retains a sense of underground outlook amongst a more open appeal. It’s why his updates of classics like Daft Punk’s ‘Around the World’ and Rolando’s Knights of the Jaguar’ have secured wall to wall DJ support, and his djing acumen is in demand across the globe.

He’s supported by Tel Aviv-based dance music producer Guy Gerber, a man who is famed for incorporating the best aspects of progressive house/trance, deep house, and techno into a unique style of his own. Equally revered for his productions as much as his scintillating sets, expect beefy beats from this outstanding young star. Local support comes from the effervescent H2.
