Never heard of Feed? Its an iPad app that lets you create beautiful music from anything. The good news is we’re releasing a major new update which you can buy today.

Here’s a remix of some moshi moshi tracks –

    <iframe src=”//player.vimeo.com/video/102841960″ width=”500″ height=”281″ frameborder=”0″ webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen></iframe> <p><a href=”http://vimeo.com/102841960″>Feed loves … Moshi Moshi</a> from <a href=”http://vimeo.com/user3780625″>incidental</a&#62; on <a href=”https://vimeo.com”>Vimeo</a&#62;.</p>

A little over a year ago, we released a beta version of the app. We took a break for a while. Then we’ve spent the last six months or so blithely ignoring the best “test and learn” practices and hiding in a darkened room whilst creating a major new update.

Now that long delay might have been crap for our sales, but its been great for the product. Want the short story? Here’s a taster of what’s new:

    <iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”//www.youtube.com/embed/FPZs7XfSVFI” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>

Why so many changes? Well, when we released the original Feed beta, we felt we had the foundations of a great new approach to touch-based music resampling and composition. Thankfully, loads of you agreed. But inevitably we had to compromise on a lot of the polish we wanted to see. Guess what? That polish is now so shiny we can’t even see our faces. The result is something that takes the basic premise of Feed but makes it a far more powerful platform for both live performance and music education.

Here’s the low down on what’s new:

    Kickass File Management
Up to now, Feed has been a bit like an audio Etch-a-Sketch. You could create some great stuff, but you couldn’t store it – meaning each time you opened the app you’d start afresh. Not any more.

Now within the app you can record, save and load new Backgrounds, or save / load individual Shapes and even whole Shape sets. So when you stumble across a collection of sounds you love, save them and you can return to them at any time.

    Hands on Control
We’ve tidied up the basic interactions with the shapes and introduced some neat new interactions. Want to loop in reverse? Easy.

Want to stack up a whole load of changes and unleash them as a world-beating drop or break? Yup …

More importantly, we’ve integrated a whole load of interactions within the core interface. Now at a tap of the button you can use the whole screen to modulate 3 effects each for four different effects – Delays, Randomiser, EQ Filter and Background Drone. Which amounts to a whole load of performative options. You’ll have fun. We promise.

    Tutorial
This one’s a biggie. Up to now, when you opened up Feed you were faced with a blank screen. No polite hello and absolutely no hand-holding. Just jump in and figure it out on your own, soldier.

Now loads of you did this, and the intuitive nature of the app meant most of you got along just fine. But we’re pretty sure even the most stalwart users missed a few Feed tricks. So now we’ve stuck in a whole in-app tutorial that take the most half-assed Feed fumbler and transform them into fully-paid up zen master in a matter of minutes.

    New haircut, new jeans
This last one is harder to put your finger on, but there’s a lot of little things that add up to a prettier, more attractive Feed. Right from the get-go we’ve always wanted to offer up a creative experience that marries up sonic and visual aspects in a way that was both informative and rewarding. We’ve continued on this path, one more step on our Feed journey towards hyper-chromo-sonic nirvana.

SO. Them’s the changes. If you’re an existing Feed user, there’s nothing you’ll need to do except download the update when it arrives and revel in shiny newness. And if you’re a newcomer, now is definitely the time to get on board and buy it.
